What is Biochar?

Biochar is a substance created by the thermal decomposition of organic biomass in an oxygen-limited or oxygen-free environment at high temperatures (400–1,000°C). It is a portmanteau of "biomass" and "charcoal."

Carbon Neutrality

Biochar permanently sequesters carbon through its porous structure, similar to that of a forest. It has been officially recognized as a reduction method for the agricultural sector in the '2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Commission’s National Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goals.' One ton of biochar can absorb 2.2 tons of carbon dioxide.

Agricultural Productivity

Biochar neutralizes acidic soils, aids in solar heat absorption to increase soil warmth, and promotes crop growth. It also activates soil microorganisms and helps adsorb heavy metals and pesticide residues in the soil.

BiocharBiochar Impact Measurement

networks-Y offers a service to companies purchasing biochar, measuring and reporting the environmental and social impacts of biochar distribution and use in monetary value.
